Last weekend was so good! Nate and I went to see Avengers: Age of Ultron, and I really enjoyed it, though the whole Natasha/Bruce romance kinda came out of nowhere. I dunno.
Anyway. The weather's finally been getting really nice, didn't even need a jacket or anything! So we walked along the waterfront and went for ice cream. We saw so many dogs! It was fantastic. Things are going wonderfully, hopefully soon we'll be moving into our own place. I'm so excited about it!
Tomorrow I've got a training thing for a new job so that should go well, and I guess then I'll get a schedule and really get started.
Last night, out of nowhere I had this crazy bad pain in my abdomen that I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I thought maybe I ate something bad, like maybe the cottage cheese or something was expired. Anyway. After being up and down to the bathroom more in about 30 minutes than I had been the whole day I figured it was something else. That's when I noticed the sporadic bleeding and slight cloudiness. Now I just had my period two weeks ago so I know it's not that. Mystery blood. Delightful. Maybe an hour or so later, I get these wicked chills. Now, it's already cold enough in my room that I need to wear layers, but this was an internal from-the-bones chill. Getting close to bedtime so I get ready, go to the bathroom again, and it stings. Not the whole time, but right at the end. That's got me worried now, so I go to sleep, and plan on making a trip out to see a doctor.
Today, sleep was uneven. Once I wake up permanently, blood and cloudiness is mostly gone, the pain while going is not. Stomachache is gone, it's moved over to my left kidney area.
I go to the walk in clinic. I let Nate know, naturally, and after asking he assures me he's clean, so that eases my mind a bit. Anyway, a few hours of waiting and a urine sample later, turns out I've got a UTI. Nothing too serious, thankfully, I just need to take some antibiotics and drink cranberry juice (ugh). The pills are easy to swallow, just need to take them twice a day for the next 10 days, with food. The doctor said they're going to do more tests on my urine to check for anything else, but it should be fine.
Happy New Year!
I've been neglecting this a bit, but I've got some stuff to talk about now!
First off, Christmas! Nate came down to Toronto with us for Christmas Eve with the family, so he met pretty much everyone and they all like him a lot (yay!). Got some good presents and stuff from Oma and the Aunts/Uncles. After that we came back home for Christmas Day, so Nate stayed over here and we opened presents in the morning. I got Nate a turntable, and he's really enjoying it. Whenever I'm over there we walk over to the record shop and look for stuff, he's gotten a few good albums.
Anyway, from him I got Absolute Sandman vol.2, and a commissioned Constantine sketch, which looks super nice! I still have to go and get a frame for it, haven't really had the time.
From Mom and Dad I got Guardians of the Galaxy on DVD, Red Sonja (1970s) #1 & 15, Red Sonja (80s) #9 & 10, Nick Fury (70s) #18, and Sgt. Fury (60s) #7. Yay! My Red Sonja collection is nearly complete, and I only need a few more for the 70's series of Nick Fury and that'll be done too! :D
Kyle got me Pokemon Omega Ruby, which is so much fun even though I haven't had much time to play it.
Boxing Day I went with Nate to his grandparent's for their Christmas celebration, I met a bunch of his family so that was cool. It was pretty low-key, but a nice gathering. His grandma gave me a pair of pyjama pants, gloves, a scarf, some socks, and a cute tote bag.
We spent the weekend together after that just hanging out and watching stuff and Netflix, and that's always fun.
There were a few days of a break in between, and then it was New Years Eve! I stayed with Nate from the 31st until the 4th (Sunday), so that was excellent. It had snowed a lot and gotten quite cold, so we mostly stayed in New Year's Eve - only going out to eat and briefly walk around city hall to check the festivities - and because we are old and boring, slept for pretty much the whole thing. I woke up about half an hour before midnight, checked facebook on my phone, woke Nate up at midnight, we kissed, I called my folks to wish them Happy New Year, then we went back to sleep. Haha.
Rest of the time, we did some shopping around Barrie, went to the movies and saw the last Hobbit movie, which was pretty great, but Smaug's defeat was honestly kinda underwhelming?? Anyway, bummed around Chapters and I got the Nausicaa deluxe boxset, which is super pretty and was on sale (yay)! On the Sunday we went shopping and Nate bought himself a dresser from Canadian Tire, so we spent the day putting that together. It was pretty easy to assemble and it looks really nice, it's four drawers and a dark brown wood finish (called Black Forest actually, I think). We were gonna move around a bunch of stuff in his room, bed and etc., but it didn't really work out space-wise. But he did clear out a bunch of things and made a bit of space, so that's good. He still wants to buy a new bookcase, but who knows when. Not a rush thing.
So that's pretty much it! It's been a really good start to 2015, I'm happy with how things are. This Saturday is Ukrainian Christmas so we'll be going to Toronto for that, Nate too, soon after I'll be housesitting for 5 days from the 15th - 19th, it's pretty much over the weekend so hopefully Nate can come down and we can do some shopping and stuff (records mostly) in the city. Besides that, I finally started watching Beyond the Boundary, which is interesting so far. That's pretty much it! Been looking around online for jobs and stuff a bit, but no places around have anything posted, and if they do, I'm severely underqualified (auto technician, really??). Ah well. Something will come up soon enough.
This was a pretty good weekend!
At some point last week or so, can't remember exactly, a friend of mine from high school that I haven't talked to since sent me a message on facebook (I took a wee break for a year or so and was out of contact with everyone), and we got to chatting and stuff, and we ended up going out to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Saturday! It was more or less what I expected it to be; very much a Michael Bay movie, but it was still ok. Verena liked it more than I did. But it was nice catching up and everything, so we're probably going to hang out again, see another movie some time.
After the movie I took the bus up to Nate's place and spent the rest of my time there, so that was good. As always~ hung out and watched movies on Netflix and stuff. His grandma made my pyjama pants, and they're super cute! Nice dark blue with a space pattern, so nice. Never can have too many pairs of pants, and now I don't have to take Nate's to sleep in anymore, haha~ Well besides all that good stuff my period started in like the middle of the day/morning so I had to deal with that unprepared, came like 5 days early, what the shit! Was super light though, so at least I had that going for me? Ugh.
Anyway. Yeah so all in all, good weekend. got the Sims 4 so I've been playing that, I like it well enough but they changed a bunch of things from 3 I loved (ultimate customization, open world, pre-made houses, etc.) that I'm not sure I like it more, but it's still a good game. Dad's birthday is next Monday so we're taking him out to Mandarin, and I'm planning on baking a cake with Spider-man themed icing, so that'll be good too.
Been a while since I've updated, but I have some things to talk about now!
Kyle's moved back home, so I've now moved into the master bedroom, while Kyle and mom get my old two rooms. Everything went well and fits pretty well, except for one of my small bookcases, which is staying in my old (now mom's) room.
I've been in Toronto for the weekend, catsitting for uncle Pete & aunt Anna, watching Lucky and just hanging out. It's also FanExpo now, which I didn't go to but Nate did, so he's been staying down here with me. Since it's only a few days I brought down a bit of food yesterday and made a ham for dinner with Brussels sprouts and potatoes, but the ham was so freaking massivle, like Christ. We ate it for dinner, in the morning I put some in with eggs for breakfast, and I'm eating it again now, and there's still so much left. Honestly there's probably still about half of it still in the fridge. Sigh.
But anyway, since it was his birthday yesterday (30!) I took Nate out for dinner at this place called Scaramouche. French-style kinda food, real fancy. Expensive. But SO DELICIOUS, YOU GUYS. Here's a breakdown of what we ate:
amuse-bouche - chilled cantaloupe soup with mint and something else, I can't remember exactly. Some kind of fruit?
first course - we split a lobster salad, which was chopped lobster/wild gaspé shrimp/valentine radish/pickled apple/fingerling crisps/small herb salad/lemon mayonnaise
second course - I had the duck; roast breast(medium rare)/chanterelle mushrooms/faro/mustard greens/pickled cherries/pistachio aillade/duck jus/cherry reduction
and Nate has the filet mignon; grilled triple A Ontario beef(I believe he got it medium)/whipped potatoes/French green beans/shallots/bordelaise sauce
The food. was. INCREDIBLE. I honestly think it's the best meal I've ever eaten in my entire life. Of course, after all this we had dessert as well. I had crème brûlée - came with Ontario strawberry sorbet/langue-du-chat
Nate had vanilla panna cotta - wild blueberry granita/lemon marshmallow/oatmeal crumble.
The restaurant itself was fantastic, large and crowded but at the same time quite intimate. In the reservation I made I requested a window table, which we got, and the view of the city from it was fantastic. We could see the CN Tower and a nice skyline, so good. Our waiter was great too, real chatty and nice, super helpful with questions we had and whatnot. Very attentive. We walked to get there and back, it was quite humid outside so that kinda sucked but overall, so good. SO GOOD.
Today we'll be heading home, mom's working overtime so she'll be coming after to come pick us up, Nate's out at the con now but should be back by then and then we'll be back in Barrie. So, this was a bit of an eventful weekend!
Spent the weekend with Nate, and ahhh I had such a good time.
Friday night we went to see Guardians of the Galaxy, which was AMAZING and has an incredible soundtrack. So good.
Saturday we walked around Kempenfest for a bit, there were a couple booths with comics so we checked those out, Nate got a bunch of stuff, and I got a few Wonder Woman ones that looked cool. Dinner that evening we went out to a friend of his and John's from the comic shop who was having a ribfest thing, so we hung out there and chatted with his friends and stuff, so that was fun. Met some good people.
Sunday we went out a bit looking for shoes (for his Moon Knight cosplay) but the two places we went to were closed so that kinda sucked. Watched some movies for a bit, then went out for dinner and walked around Kempenfest again, Kim Mitchell was playing at the waterfront so we went to check that out, but we just ended up sitting on a bench and listening to the Dead Kennedys, so that was pretty excellent anyway.
And then today, it rained in the morning/afternoon so we didn't end up doing much, just hung out and watched more movies and stuff. All in all, perfect weekend! In two weeks or so we're going to Toronto, so that'll be fun.
Ahh, today was a good day (June 1).
Had Nate over to the house for the first time and I cooked dinner; made lobster tails with clarified butter, hasselback potatoes, and garlic & thyme green beans with almonds, and then cinnamon rolls for dessert (which I made yesterday, since they're somewhat time consuming). Dad made some beef ribs as well, and everything was so nice. The weather was good so we ate outside, Dakota was really good with him too. Hung out with mom and dad, watched some tv and talked and stuff, showed him around the house and everything, and it went really well. So, excellent day.
Yesterday watched Prisoners, which was quite a good movie! I enjoyed it.
Ahh, took a bit updating this thing, but some stuff happened. For my birthday, Nate got me the Revoltech no.129 Lupin the Third, which is SO COOL, I set him up with the Jigen I had already, so they're hanging out on my dresser shelf. also, I got a cute bag his grandma made. Hee~
Mother's day, went to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with mom and dad, which was pretty good.
On the long weekend (Sunday) Dad, Nate, John (Nate's friend) and I went to Hamilton to the Big B comics shop there and bought some stuff, on the way back stopped at another place in Toronto close to highway 7 but it was closed. Dad and I did stop there the other day though, and the place was pretty neat. It was massive inside, they had a freaking live crocodile in a tank, and comics on the walls up to the ceiling. Got a few things there, but they were a little overpriced. Ah, well.
Anyway, on Sunday after all the comics stuff hung out at Nate's place and watched movies and stuff, then on Monday went too meet Nate's grandparents (!!!) who were super nice and awesome, his grandma gave me a bunch of stuff she's knitted, and we hung out and talked about his family and stuff, it was cool. Learned some stuff. Was there the majority of the day, breakfast - dinner, then came back to Barrie after words, hung out a bit more at Nate's place before heading home.
Yesterday, Nate and I spent the day out, saw Godzilla in the afternoon, which was AMAZING, totally loved it, then we walked over to Wal-Mart and bummed around there for a bit, then went over to Chapters and hung around there too before going to eat. Went to Jack Astor's which I hadn't been to since high school, so that was nice. Good food. After that, walked back to the theatre, on the way stopped into this gaming café, which I had no idea was there, and it was a pretty neat place! Full of tables and chairs, had a small bar area to buy drinks and stuff, and in the corner were shelves full of board games! It was a cool place.
Moving on, went from there and saw X-Men: Days of Future Past, which was really good. Totally enjoyed it, the scene with Quicksilver was so freaking awesome, probably my favourite scene of the whole movie, like cripes. So good. so that was the whole day, which was fun.
Tomorrow going to Toronto for Kyle's birthday dinner. Going to Mandarin, yay~
For the longest time I've been using a pretty solid routine of Live Clean products for my face, which has been working well and I like that it's almost completely plant-based, but I don't seem to notice a lot of improvement with my skin. Like, it prevents break outs and whatnot fairly well, but otherwise not much changes.
Since I've run out, I decided to pick up a bunch of Nivea stuff to see how that is. I mean, it's a fairly well known brand, and honestly, it's cheaper, so I like that too haha. Gonna be starting on it tomorrow morning and using it until it runs out, so we'll see how that goes.
Anyway. Sunday going to Toronto for an early birthday thing for grandma, and Saturday gonna hang out with Nate. He's got my birthday present now, and he said he was starting to feel like he's getting sick, so I'm bringing him soup. Said he wanted to try the broccoli cheddar soup that I make, though it's pretty heavy on the dairy so maybe might not be so great if he's feeling poorly? I dunno. :/
Nate took me out for a fancy birthday dinner, it was super nice, very tasty. I'd never been to the place before (Crazy Fox Bistro), but he said it's one of his favourite places so that's cool. Had crème brûlée for the first time. It was good.
Also, we are dating now
It is official
Spent the weekend with Nate so that was awesome, we went to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was THE BEST. Amazing movie, so so good. Would definitely see again. Afterwords went to Kelseys and the food was real good but there was so much, it was a struggle to finish. Ugggh.
He moved into his new place so I got to see where he's living now, it's a nice place, his room is a lot bigger than his old one, and they've got a dog and she's a super cutie so that's a bonus too. He really seems to love where he's at now so I'm happy for him.
Besides that, applied at a bunch of places around so hopefully something will come of that. But yeah. Things are good.
The Oscars were pretty fantastic this year. Ellen is a great host, she should just host it every year, like honestly. I'm happy about who won for the most part, as usual I haven't seen any of the movies that were nominated but a lot of them look really good so I'm going to make a point of watching them at some point.
Seeing Benedict Cumberbatch was like A+ fantastic too.
So I went to hang out with Nate and his grandma made me mittens because I never wear any so my hands are always cold when we go out and apparently he told her, so she made me mittens! We've never even met but she did this and it's so sweet. They're so nice and cute and ohmygod I can't even handle it.
Anyway we went and ate pitas and watched more X-Files and a bit of Trigun, then he gave me a hug before I left, jeez you guys. This freaking boy!
I sound like an idiot but UUUUUUGH HE'S SO CUTE IT'S RUINING MY LIFE
Ahh, last night was a good night. Or was it mostly this morning?
Cuddling and shawarma and THE X-FILES (!!!) and mad intimacy that I only had a minor freak out about like, yesss.
Perfect. Best night/day/event.
Also the Olympics have started and the opening ceremony was pretty fantastic. Good on ya, Russia.
I'm here! I haven't comepletely abandoned this thing yet! Quick life updates then:
Going to Chicago with Nate at the end of the month for 4 days (24th - 27th) for the TOME launch party, and I am well excited about it. Booked the flight and hotel at the beginning of March, and got the e-tickets and everything a few days ago, and so we're all good to go. From what it seems the hotel, ACME Hotel Company Chicago
, seems cool, and it's right near the art district so that's nice and convenient, though it's quite far from the majority of comic shops, which is kind of a bummer.
Today, bought myself a pair of TUK creepers (finally!) and I am totally in love with these shoes, for real. Bought them from a pretty cool store on Queen St. in Toronto, called Original
, and they had a lot of nice stuff in there. Vivienne Westwood bags and accessories! Cripes! I clearly do nt have the money for things like that, now or ever, but seeing them in person was delightful. Besides that, they had this mad cute pair of purple tartan pants that I really liked, but I didn't try them on since they were $90. Sigh.
Don't know if I mentioned this at all here previously, but got the TOME books and prints, and they are superb. Will be pre-ordering vol.2 on monday. I've got the prints at Michael's for framing right now, it's been two weeks already so they should be finished by no, but I haven't been contacted about it yet, so I don't know.
On note with TOME vol.2, I went to pre-order them the other day already but couldn't get it put through since payment is through paypal, and having a pay-as-you-go card is unacceptable, I had a gross amount of money available, and so I ordered ( 9 comicsCollapse )
off of Amazon. They're being split up for delivery, which is expected, and they should all be here by next week or so.
And, I suppose that's all! Oh, wait, more, I'll be house/cat-sitting in June again for Uncle Pete & Aunt Anna for two weeks, so that'll be nice. Alright. Now that's all.
Dream time! Haven't written one in a while.
In this dream, I'm travelling through Philippine rice fields in order to get to a large Malaysian forest, crossing through water at points, doing puzzles and obstacles as I go. There is an underlying sense of dread, that this is all for survival's sake. At various times I meet people but never exchange words. I woke up during the last puzzle, in which I have to answer questions in order to unlock parts of a bridge that will let me continue through the forest.
I've had this dream before, probably more than two years ago (though I searched through and couldn't find it, I never wrote about this?), but this time it was a little different.
* Last time, I was alone during the dream, this time I was with someone else. I don't know who, but I'm almost positive it was a male. He was always slow and trailing behind, and going off paths that I had already determined to be safe.
* Crossing one obstacle (a small shack on stilts-type thing, covered with massive spiderwebs) I was carrying three small chicken eggs. No chicken eggs before, and when I accidentally dropped one, there was a full chicken fetus inside.
* At one point, during the last puzzle, my companion is being careless and I have to stop him, and I remember saying, "I've done this before".
I wonder, is being in a dream and recognizing it's a repeat something normal?
Little late with updating here, but let's recap the festivities!( Christmas EveCollapse )( Christmas DayCollapse )( Boxing DayCollapse )
So I went and bought those two Monster High dolls I wanted (Abbey and Rochelle). Man! They are so cute! We got a few new ones in today too, they make noise and light up and stuff like that. There was a girl shopping in there today with her mom and sister (I'm guessing), and she was so excited about the dolls. I opened up a box off the skid to give her one that wasn't out and she was literally jumping up and down she was so happy. I don't really enjoy dealing with customers for the most part, but little things like that happening are so nice and amusing. Anyway.
Mom and dad are coming home from their vacation tonight (I believe), so I'm sure they'll be asking about everything that's happened, though it hasn't really been much.
Went out and got my Christmas shopping done today. Well, mostly. I don't know what I'm buying for dad yet. Usually I go out with mom to get something or she has some large thing planned in advance but they're on vacation so I have to wait until they get back to find out what we're doing this year.
Anyway, one more week and then work is over! It went by really quick this year, but it's still been good. We've finally got about 15 people working now, better late than never I guess?
