| I'm here! I haven't comepletely abandoned this thing yet! Quick life updates then: Going to Chicago with Nate at the end of the month for 4 days (24th - 27th) for the TOME launch party, and I am well excited about it. Booked the flight and hotel at the beginning of March, and got the e-tickets and everything a few days ago, and so we're all good to go. From what it seems the hotel, ACME Hotel Company Chicago, seems cool, and it's right near the art district so that's nice and convenient, though it's quite far from the majority of comic shops, which is kind of a bummer. Today, bought myself a pair of TUK creepers (finally!) and I am totally in love with these shoes, for real. Bought them from a pretty cool store on Queen St. in Toronto, called Original, and they had a lot of nice stuff in there. Vivienne Westwood bags and accessories! Cripes! I clearly do nt have the money for things like that, now or ever, but seeing them in person was delightful. Besides that, they had this mad cute pair of purple tartan pants that I really liked, but I didn't try them on since they were $90. Sigh. Don't know if I mentioned this at all here previously, but got the TOME books and prints, and they are superb. Will be pre-ordering vol.2 on monday. I've got the prints at Michael's for framing right now, it's been two weeks already so they should be finished by no, but I haven't been contacted about it yet, so I don't know. On note with TOME vol.2, I went to pre-order them the other day already but couldn't get it put through since payment is through paypal, and having a pay-as-you-go card is unacceptable, I had a gross amount of money available, and so I ordered ( 9 comicsCollapse ) off of Amazon. They're being split up for delivery, which is expected, and they should all be here by next week or so. And, I suppose that's all! Oh, wait, more, I'll be house/cat-sitting in June again for Uncle Pete & Aunt Anna for two weeks, so that'll be nice. Alright. Now that's all. | |

| Dream time! Haven't written one in a while.
In this dream, I'm travelling through Philippine rice fields in order to get to a large Malaysian forest, crossing through water at points, doing puzzles and obstacles as I go. There is an underlying sense of dread, that this is all for survival's sake. At various times I meet people but never exchange words. I woke up during the last puzzle, in which I have to answer questions in order to unlock parts of a bridge that will let me continue through the forest.
I've had this dream before, probably more than two years ago (though I searched through and couldn't find it, I never wrote about this?), but this time it was a little different.
* Last time, I was alone during the dream, this time I was with someone else. I don't know who, but I'm almost positive it was a male. He was always slow and trailing behind, and going off paths that I had already determined to be safe. * Crossing one obstacle (a small shack on stilts-type thing, covered with massive spiderwebs) I was carrying three small chicken eggs. No chicken eggs before, and when I accidentally dropped one, there was a full chicken fetus inside. * At one point, during the last puzzle, my companion is being careless and I have to stop him, and I remember saying, "I've done this before".
I wonder, is being in a dream and recognizing it's a repeat something normal?

| Went up to Kitchener today to the comic shop, got ( a bunch of good stuff!Collapse )Before going up we went to the Denny's in Toronto for breakfast, and ohhh man it was so good and filling. Pumpkin pancakes! Augh! SO GOOD. | |
|
| So I went and bought those two Monster High dolls I wanted (Abbey and Rochelle). Man! They are so cute! We got a few new ones in today too, they make noise and light up and stuff like that. There was a girl shopping in there today with her mom and sister (I'm guessing), and she was so excited about the dolls. I opened up a box off the skid to give her one that wasn't out and she was literally jumping up and down she was so happy. I don't really enjoy dealing with customers for the most part, but little things like that happening are so nice and amusing. Anyway.
Mom and dad are coming home from their vacation tonight (I believe), so I'm sure they'll be asking about everything that's happened, though it hasn't really been much.
|
| Went out and got my Christmas shopping done today. Well, mostly. I don't know what I'm buying for dad yet. Usually I go out with mom to get something or she has some large thing planned in advance but they're on vacation so I have to wait until they get back to find out what we're doing this year.
Anyway, one more week and then work is over! It went by really quick this year, but it's still been good. We've finally got about 15 people working now, better late than never I guess?
|
| Confessed my feelings yesterday, all the while blathering on like an idiot.
What is going on with my life
I am too old for this | |
|
| Kinda strange dream. I was at work, but the store wasn't here, it was in some city with old, gothic type architecture. Anyway I don't remember much of what happened, but at one point I and someone else* fell asleep in the Nerf aisle, quite comfortably together, but there were Lego boxes everywhere, and when I woke up I was three aisles down. At some point there was a photo taken while sleeping with comments on a tumblr-esque setting, something regarding a line (like, an actual, glowing line. Blue in color) between the two people that showed a connection. A lot of comments were written in Polish (I think).
Otherwise I can't remember much... I was walking through the gothic city at one point, and in a car with someone at another.
Anyway, work tonight. We got three new people the other day, two of them have quit already. I woke up feeling kinda sickly, but it's sunday so things probably won't be too bad, and then I've got two days off anyway so whatever it is I've got now will probably be gone by wednesday once I've rested. Hopefully.
* I know who it is, but writing the name isn't important
|
| Went and hung out with Nate tonight, good times! Caught up and talked about comics and work and everything, watched a bit of the BBC Sherlock, which is quite good. I'd heard about it but never watched it before, but I really enjoyed it.
Gave him his comics and some others ones I had extra, and that's pretty much it. It was good hanging out again. He'll possibly come along next time I go to Kitchener, so we'll see what happens with that.
But besides that
I'm so excited
My Garth Ennis Punisher Omnibus arrived today, omigod, it's so beautiful I want to cry. AAAAAAAHH
|
| Dream time!
I was living in a cave of some sort, he came and brought me runes. I remember specifically seeing ᚠ and ᛞ.
|
| I think I might actually buy something from work this year! I usually never buy stuff, I mean I don't have any use for toys and whatnot, but we've got some cute things!
There's a Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary collection of plushes (Hello Kitty, My Melody, Keroppi, and Chococat), which honestly has been there for years but it's on clearance now, and I've always liked it, so maybe that, haha! A cute bear plush from that Brave movie, and actually, I kinda like those Monster High dolls! Man! A lot of the designs are pretty nice, and I really like the Rochelle Goyle and Abbey Bominable dolls, so I might buy those too.
They were on sale a little while ago, so I might wait until they go on sale again to get them, if I decide to.
|
| Drove out to Kitchener today to go to a comic shop/warehouse there, and ended up getting a ( bunch of good stuffCollapse )After that drove back to Toronto, and stopped off at Kensington to get some comics there. He didn't bring in the ones he had set aside, but he was having a special on, 50c a comic, so I picked up ( a fewCollapse )Spent all the money I brought and was totally exhausted at the end of it all, but all in all a very good day. Definitely worth it. I'm hoping I'll be able to go back soon (likely after Christmas but before New Years) to get some more stuff. | |
|
| Yesterday dad went down to Kensington Comics to pick up some stuff for me, and so I got 22 comics for $20, all ( Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELDCollapse )Besides that, not much going on. Work is good, nothing much to say about it. Got a bunch of bruises, but that's normal. | |
|
| So dad's started collecting comics now, only Amazing Spider-man though, so he's been looking around kijiji and going and buying stuff, and yesterday he went and bought 800 comics. Only about 11 were Spidey, so I've been sorting through for stuff I collect, and ended up getting a bunch, ( 164 in totalCollapse )Besides that, not much going on. Work has been going well, they've started the Christmas music already, and I'm already fairly sick of it. Sigh. | |
|
| Back at TRU! Yay! Last night was my first night, it was good. Everyone was happy to see me back, so that was nice. Did preschool as usual, then moved to girls and finished off in seasonal. It seems I might be in girls permanently this year, which I don't mind so much. All the sections have seen switched around though, so it'll take a little time to get it all sorted in my head again.
Anyway, that's pretty much all. A few returns and two new people, though one quit and I haven't met the other yet. Tonight, I think. Oh! and they've changed the music they play! It's a nice mix of new-ish stuff and older stuff.
|
| Went to Toronto with mom & dad to a new comic store that opened in Kensington Market, they have everything for only $1, and if you bought a whole bunch you got a discount! Excellent! I ended up getting ( 43 in totalCollapse )The guy in the store was really nice, super talkative. He'd just opened the store on saturday so it's not totally done yet, and he supposedly has like 30,000 longboxes? Cripes man! Anyway though, he's going to be constantly replenishing his stock from that so he said to message him on facebook and let him know what to look out for and he'll set it aside if/when he finds any issues. How awesome is that!? The store was right above a head shop so we just hung out in front for a while until the comic store opened. The guy who owned it was nice, and was playing reggae music on the sidewalk. I kinda smell like hemp a bit. Anyway, I also bought a pair of Doc Martens boots, since I've always kinda wanted a pair, they're so nice. I think vintage too, like 80s or something? Still gotta be broken in a bit. All in all, excellent! | |
|
| Ventured into a make-up/beauty section today, bought myself some BB Cream (L'Oreal). I don't like wearing make-up, it bothers me, but I want my skin to look a bit nicer. I think this is the best solution, since it's very lightweight and supposedly helps to correct and all that in the long run, so I think it'll be ok. Bloody expensive though!
Anyway, I'll start with it tomorrow morning, for two or three weeks, and see how it does.
|
| Went to an auction this morning, bought some stuff: Alexander McKee, Caen: Anvil of Victory (1985) Wilfrid Blunt, The Dream King: Ludwig II of Bavaria (1970) 2 Carlton Cards christmas ornaments (Wolverine and Spider-Man) An oak (I think) chair with nice soft blue upholstering And of course, ( comicsCollapse )And for all those it didn't end up costing too much, so it all worked out quite well! All of the regular issues, and the Star Wars oversized comic were all grouped together as one lot. After we went to Goodwill since mom was there the other day and saw some nice shadowbox art thing and wanted to show me, but it was already sold. I ended up buying a couple books anyway: J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit (1975) Trygve Gulbranssen, Und ewig singen die Wälder [And Forever Sing the Forests] (1936) A.J. Cronin, The Citadel (1938) So all in all, a good day! - Tags:book/comics, shopping

| Got some comics today, The Goon vol.11, Northlanders vol.5, and Locke & Key vol.5 (hardcover). Once again UPS took their sweet time getting here, but whatever.
Anyway, going to another auction tomorrow that has some comics availble, there weren't any pictures on the site so i'm not sure exactly what they've got, but hopefully something good!
|
| Back from Housesitting! Didn't post much while I was there, since there wasn't much for me to post about. But anyway, I did go to that auction the saturday before, ended up with 558 comics. Well, I guess technically I came out with 561, since dad had bought some things too but didn't really want them so he gave them to me (*these ones). Woo! Anyway, ( here we goCollapse ) | |
